The construction of the government place in Paasloo. From the end of 1941 the shelters had to be vacated into the dunes. In order to offer a house, the above-ground concrete bunker was built at Paasloo. This started in May 1942, the bunker was ready in September. The walls are 4.5 m thick and covered with bricks. 7000 cubic meters of concrete was used in construction. Here the finish places.

One of a series of eight 'work-in-progress' photos of the construction of 4 timber framed, thatched houses and a workshop for the Native Industrial Training Depot at which Charles Bungey was Chief Technical Instructor. The deposits are sometimes three hundred feet deep and seem almost inexhaustible. Here you see a stream shovel digging into the bank and loading the cars. One of these machines does more work than a thousand men could do with picks and shovels.
