He is dressed in a knee-length hip-dress (veshti, lungi) that is tied high around the waist. He has draped a shoulder cloth (chadar) around his head that covers his back and shoulders and of which he has also tucked the end in at the waist. The rest of the upper body is uncovered. He holds his bare arms folded in front of his stomach. The man on the right is crouching on a sloping bank. He also wears a hip-dress that reaches over his knees and a shoulder cloth draped over his shoulders, upper body and head. Only his feet and face are uncovered. In front of him is a kind of sliding box containing two objects. The men probably come from South India and were put to work in the reconstruction in Colombo. The caption for this ilustration reads: And they came and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in the manger in Bethlehem. The Christian religion celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the central figure of the religion, on December 25. The birth is often referred to as "the Nativity" and the three main figures are Jesus, his mother Mary, and Mary's husband Joseph. In this 19th century depiction, angels are shown coming to honor Jesus, who is lying in a manger. Shepherds and their sheep have also come.

Doushan sent an official named Theodor to check her out. The scene here shows Theodor with the Princess Roksanda. The place was dark, but he had a magic ring that provided light. She was beautiful and he gave her the ring from Doushan. The illustration is from a 1921 book on Serbian myths and legends.
