Granite: relief on the wall of the entrance to the Seok-gu-ram Grotto (Cave Temple), Kyeongju. The Keumgang-Yeoksa are regarded as supernatural beings in Buddhism that guard the gates of the temple. In Korea, similarities have been drawn between the posture of the Gate Guardians and the Taekwondo basic posture. Some claim that the very existence of these beings in Buddhism and depicted in every Buddhist branch in Asia is originally from the Greek legendary being: Heracles. The Seokguram grotto is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage and as the Korean National Treasure number 24. The Seokguram Grotto was initiated in 751 by King Kyeongdeok of Silla and completed by his son in 774 by King Hyegong of Silla. The Grotto was built to illustrate the moment when Sakyamuni achieved the Enlightenment. Sculpture from the time of Unified Silla (668 - 935)

Funerary pagoda with four Buddhas ca. 560-75 China (probably Shandong province) The construction of small, square, pagoda-like shrines appears to have begun in China during the Northern Qi period, and flourished through the Tang dynasty (618-907). Comparisons with other examples suggest that this shrine once stood on a square, possibly stepped, base and was capped by either a domed or tiered roof. Its exterior walls, marked by prominent entryways, enclose a pillar with four Buddhas; although they can no longer be accurately identified, they likely represented the Buddhas most important to Chinese practice during the sixth century. Each wall is capped by a lintel that bears representations of multiple seated Buddhas. Paired dragons fill the upper registers and guardians and lions (many now missing) protect the entryways. The shrines interior walls are carved with rows of multiple tiny Buddhas. Exhibiting variations in posture and clothing, they symbolize the immanence of many Buddhas i

Stelae (Chinese: ; pinyin: béi) have been the major medium of stone inscription in China since the Tang dynasty (618 - 907 CE). Chinese stelae are generally rectangular stone tablets upon which Chinese characters are carved intaglio with a funerary, commemorative, or edifying text. They can commemorate talented writers and officials, inscribe poems, portraits, or maps, and frequently contain the calligraphy of famous historical figures.

Angkor Wat was built for King Suryavarman II (ruled 1113-50) in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the Angkor site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation - first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. It is the world's largest religious building. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors. Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early South Indian Hindu architecture. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers.

The Bayon, at the centre of Angkor Thom (Great City), was established in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. Angkor Thom, meaning 'The Great City', is located one mile north of Angkor Wat. It was built in the late 12th century CE by King Jayavarman VII, and covers an area of 9 km, within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors.

Nandi or Nandin (Tamil: ந்தி Sanskrit: नंदी) is the name for the bull which serves as the mount (Sanskrit: vāhana) of Shiva and as the gate keeper of Shiva and Parvati in Hindu mythology. Temples venerating Shiva and Parvati display stone images of a seated Nandi, generally facing the main shrine. There are also a number of temples dedicated solely to Nandi.
