Charles I (1600-1649). King of Great Britain and Ireland, from 27 March 1625 until his execution on 30 January 1649. Charles had been defeated by the Parliamentary army during the English Civil War, in one of several episodes that pitted Royalists against Parliamentarians between 1642 and 1651. After his capture, the king was tried and sentenced to death for high treason. Charles I of England in prison. Engraving. Felipe V conquists Luzara, 1701

Corona de Aragón. Guerra de Sucesión entre la Casa de Borbón (Felipe V) y la Casa de Habsburgo (Archiduque Carlos de Austria). Asesinato del Conseller en Cap Nicolás de San Juan el 22 de abril de 1706, nombrado coronel de la milicia barcelonesa en 1705. En Barcelona tras la conquista de la fortaleza de Montjuic por parte de las tropas borbónicas, los amotinados seguidores del archiduque acudieron a diversas iglesias para tocar a somatén, entre ellas la de la catedral de Barcelona. La autoridad consistorial trató de atajar esa conducta y mandó el cese de esas acciones, siendo la catedral la única que no obedeció. El Conseller en Cap se dirigío a la torre de la catedral para ordenat en persona el cese de la desobediencia. Execution of Sir John Oldcastle

La Guerra de las Naranjas (mayo-julio de1801). "Las naranjas de Yelves". España y Francia eran aliadas contra Gran Bretaña por el Tratado de San Ildefonso. Portugal permitía a Gran Bretaña que sus barcos utilizaran los puertos portugueses. Napoléon, en guerra contra los ingleses, obligó a Carlos IV declarar la guerra a Portugal. Badajoz se convirtió en sede de un contingente militar al mando del primer ministro Godoy. Este ejército entró en Portugal conquistando la ciudad de Olivenza y una parte del Alentejo, lo cual obligó a los soldados portugueses a refugiarse en los fuertes de Elvas (Yelves) y Campomayor. Durante la toma de Elvas (Yelves) los soldados españoles cortaron unos ramilletes de naranjas de sus jardines y se los entregaron a Godoy como premio por la victoria. Cartoon of 1799 shows the Hydra-headed French government demands money from American commissioners to France. Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, at far left, responds, 'We will not give you six pence.' John Marshall, and Elbridge Gerry are to his right. The monster represent three French officials who demanded a $250,000 bribe to NOT declare war on the US. In a barber shop, a owl on his head is a blown Spaniard (Don Diego of Castile) that suffers from softness and is assisted by a group of doctors. He spits the Spanish fleet at Duillen, a French physician (Cardinal Richelieu) makes a loss and by blistering a stream of Spanish soldiers and gold pieces leaves the back of the body. Furthermore, a Swedish doctor, the Admiral of Dunkirk (Jacques Colaert) and the right, a Dutch sailor offers the sick Spaniard a bowl of orcharens. A separate text sheet is one of the print.

Reign of Charles IV of Spain. Manuel Godoy ordered the arrest of Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos (1744-1811) on 13 March 1801, and his banishment to Majorca. First to the Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa, where he was under the care of the monks until 1802, and then to the military prison of Bellver Castle (1802-1808). After the fall of Godoy during the Mutiny of Aranjuez, Jovellanos was freed on 6 April 1808 from the Bellver Castle prison. Engraving. Entry of Major Anderson's command into Fort Sumter at night on Dec. 26, 1860. He secretly relocated 127 soldiers of the 1st U.S. Artillery to Fort Sumter from their less defensible position at Fort Moultrie.
