Millions of Pounds Damage Caused by Baghdad Floods -- Flood victims, with the possessions they have managed to save making their way across the stop-gap bund at Baghdad, to find temporary shelter until the waters subside. It is estimated that some £25 million damage has been caused by the floods around Baghdad, a result of the River Tigris overflowing it's banks. Thousands of people have fled from Baghdad in these, the worst floods the City has known for several centuries. Some of Iraq's best vegetable and fruit gardens have been inundated and large quantities of crops lost.
