Three Princesses are Bridemaids at Romsey Abbey Wedding:This family wedding group, photographed at the reception held at Broadlands, the Mountbatten Home. Back row, left to right, the Duchess of Kent, Viscount Mountbatten the bridegroom, H.M. the King, Lady Mountbatten and Charles Harris-St. John (the best men). Also in the picture are, H.M. the Queen, the bride, and the four bridesmaids.The ancient town of Romsey, in the New Forest, Hamphshire, was en fets to-day (Saturday). Thousands came from far and wide to see the Hon. Patricia Mountbatten, 22-year-old daughter of Viscount Mountbatten of Burma married to Captain the Lord Brabourne, the Coldstream Guards, at Romsey Abbey. Three Princesses were bridesmaids, Their Majesties the King and queen, with other members of the Royal family, were present, as were famous naval and military commanders who had served with viscount Mountbatten in South-East Asia, where bride and bridegroom met. Mr. Maurice Brain year - old Brighton - store-keeper and spare-time artist, beside his 7 ft. portrait in oils of Her Majesty The Queen, which he painted to commemorate the Coronation. It took him four months working every evening and at week-ends from photographs of the queen in her Coronation robes. He has been unable to find a buyer for it - it was offered to several large stores but they all said it was too big. Now the British Legion will accept it to hang in the Earl ******.
