Menelik II (1889-1913) - Emperor of Ethiopia. During the 1890s, Menelik heard about the modern method of executing criminals using electric chairs, and he ordered three for his kingdom. When the chairs arrived, Menelik learnt they would not work, as Ethiopia did not yet have an electrical power industry. Rather than waste his investment, Menelik used one of the chairs as his throne!! Date: 1904

Radama II (September 23, 1829 - May 12, 1863 assumed dead) was the son and heir of Queen Ranavalona I and ruled from 1861 to 1863 over the Kingdom of Madagascar, which controlled virtually the entire island. Radama's rule, although brief, was a pivotal period in the history of the Kingdom of Madagascar. Under the unyielding and often harsh 33-year rule of his mother, Queen Ranavalona I, Madagascar had successfully preserved its cultural and political independence from French and British designs. Rejecting the queen's policy of isolationism and Christian persecution, Radama II permitted religious freedom and re-opened Madagascar to European influence. Under the terms of the Lambert Charter, which Radama secretly contracted in 1855 with French entrepreneur Joseph-François Lambert while Ranavalona yet ruled, the French were awarded exclusive rights to the exploitation of large tracts of valuable land and other lucrative resources and projects. This agreement, which was later revoked by

King Chulalongkorn, Rama V (1853-1910) was the fifth monarch of Siam under the House of Chakri. He acceded to the throne in 1868 at the age of 15 after the death of his father, King Mongkut, Rama IV. King Chulalongkorn is considered one of the greatest kings of Siam. His reign was characterized by the modernization of the country, including major governmental and social reforms. He is also credited with saving Siam from being colonized.

Sayyid Sir Khalifa II bin Harub Al-Said, GCB, GCMG, GBE (August 26, 1879 - October 9, 1960) (Arabic: خليفة بن حارب البوسعيد‎) was the ninth Sultan of Zanzibar. He ruled Zanzibar from December 9, 1911 to October 9, 1960. In 1900, he married Princess Sayyida Matuka bint Hamud Al-Busaid, daughter of the seventh Sultan of Zanzibar and sister of the eighth Sultan. He was succeeded by his eldest surviving son, Abdullah bin Khalifa.
