Communist Fugitive Taken Off "Batory"Inspector W.E. Bray of Scotland Yard (left) leads Gerhart Eisler, America's No. 1 Communist, off the tender "Romsey" at Southampton, England May 14. Scotland yard officers went out to the polish ship "Batory" as it lay anchored off Cowes Isle of Wight. Eisler had jumped bail in America and stowed away on the ship. The captain of the Batory said he would not hand Eisler overt to the police without permission from his company. After hours of telephoning and argument, Eisler was carried from the ship and taken to Southampton in the tender. June 6, 1949.

Centre (without lanyards) are two Chief Cadet Captains of the Term. Their position is official; their methods are not so limited. Each House has a House Cadet Captain; and further Cadet Captains take charge of each dormitory. An order from an Officer is obeyed willingly and at the double.
