(June 24, 2022) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) returns to Naval Station Norfolk after a regularly scheduled deployment in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts, June 24. Gravely was deployed as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - NASA, Lockheed Martin and U.S. Navy personnel stand on the deck of the USS Anchorage as the ship departs Naval Base San Diego on the first day of Orion Underway Recovery Test 3. The ship will head out to sea, off the coast of San Diego, in search of conditions to support test needs for a full dress rehearsal of recovery operations. NASA, Lockheed Martin and U.S. Navy personnel will conduct tests in the Pacific Ocean to prepare for recovery of the Orion crew module on its return from a deep space mission. The test will allow the teams to demonstrate and evaluate the recovery processes, procedures, hardware and personnel in open waters. The Ground Systems Development and Operations Program is conducting the underway recovery tests. Orion is the exploration spacecraft designed to carry astronauts to destinations not yet explored by humans, including an asteroid and Mars. Maryland Fleet Week and Flyover is Baltimores celebration of the sea services and provides an opportunity for the citizens of Maryland and the city of Baltimore to meet Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see firsthand the latest capabilities of todays maritime services.

110908-M-KZ372-001NEW YORK (Sept. 8, 2011) Crew members aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) man the rails and present honors while passing The World Trade Center and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, Sept. 8, as the ship arrives in Manhattan. The crew of New York will participate in numerous events throughout the city honoring the victims and responders from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. On board are family members of victims and first responders from 9/11, along with the crew and Marines from 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, based in Camp Lejeune, N.C. The ship was built with 7.5 tons of steel recovered from Ground Zero. The ship is scheduled to be pier side in Manhattan Sept. 8-9 and will anchor in the Hudson River Sept. 10-12. On Sept. 11, USS New York will move from its anchorage in the Hudson River to a location within sight of the World Trade Center.

In preparation for NASAs Artemis II crewed mission, which will send four astronauts in Orion beyond the Moon, NASA and the Department of Defense will conduct a series of tests to demonstrate and evaluate the processes, procedures and hardware used in recovery operations for crewed lunar missions. Amphibious transport docks, like USS San Diego, have unique capabilities that make it an ideal partner to support NASA, including embarking helicopters, launching and recovering small boats, three dimensional air search radar and advanced medical facilities.

Brasil is a training ship and its mission is to provide training to Midshipmen and to represent Brazil while sailing abroad. During the Midshipmen cruise, sailors are trained in navigation, meteorology, seamanship and damage control while introducing the crew to life onboard a ship.

Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2022 is the 28th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

PEARL HARBOR (May 18, 2015) The guided-missile destroyer USS Chafee (DDG 90) departs Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for an independent deployment. The ship will conduct theater security cooperation and maritime presence operations with partner nations as well as participate in the exercise Talisman Saber within U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations and is expected to play an integral part in counter-illicit trafficking mission Operation Martillo in U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations.

Pacific Partnership, now in its 17th year, is the largestannual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster reliefpreparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific region. The PacificPartnership 2022 team will work with host nation counterpart and regionalpartners to provide tailored medical, dental, and veterinary care, andconduct bilateral engineering civic actions, and exchange informationrelated to disaster response procedures. The port stop at NBG willprovide the crew time for rest and relaxation, conduct mission preparations, perform routine maintenance, and load additional supplies onto the ship. The hospital ships last visit to Guam was in 2018.
