The Independent Chairman Of The Appeal Tribunal In The Docks Dispute: Seventy-five-year-old Sir Robert Aske, K.C., was appointed by the Port of London Authority solicitors to preside over the tribunal. He has had considerable experience as a commercial arbitrator and was three times Deputy-Sheriff of Hull. The recommendations of the tribunal were disputed by a number of shop stewards, who could not agree whether or not they should advise the men to call off the strike. June 26, 1948.

Tilley has resigned from the positions of chairman of the Sydney Stock Exchange and of the Australian Associated Stock Exchanges, and also from the Sydney 'Change committee.The resignation is because of ill- health and strain of overwork.Mr. Tilley has been chairman of the Sydney Stock Exchange continuously for almost 12 years, and chairman from 1939 to 1941.During the war years heavy responsibilities fell on Mr. Tilley, and he frequently figured prominently in extremely delicate negotiations with the Government. These included the fixation of share prices within narrowed limits. July 4, 1952.

Their destination is the South Sea islands.This all-Australian company will produce historical, travel, and adventure films, not only for Australian screening, but for the world market, and the dialogue will be done in English, French, and German. Gardiner And Strachey Talk About Britain's Breakfast -- Mr. J.G. Gardiner, Canadian Minister of agriculture (right) and Britain's Food Minister, Mr. John Strachey, have a long talk at the Ministry of Food in whitehall and subject of their conversation is- Britain's breakfast table.Mr. Gardiner, 64, is over her with a delegation of seven for ten day consultations with the food Ministry, dealing mainly with wheat prices. But he may also suggest sending Britain more eggs and apples, of which his country has a surplus.Canadian bacon may also be discussed.
