The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues work on the critical public facility as part of the Hawaii Wildfires Recovery mission. Contractors will place 337 modular units to form ten large and 20 small classrooms. Besides the classrooms, the campus will include three restrooms, one administration building, one learning center, and one combination dining and food service center. As of Jan. 8, 2024, 300 units are on site and ready for placement. The modular school is a temporary replacement for the King Kamehameha III Elementary School, which served the students of Lahaina since 1913.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - At Launch Pad 39B at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida, construction workers prepare a crawler track panel on the pads surface for removal. The concrete surface beneath the panels and the catacomb roof below will be inspected for water damage and repaired. There are 176 panels, each weighing about 30,000 pounds that will be removed. Launch Pad 39B is being refurbished to support NASAs Space Launch System and other launch vehicles. The Ground Systems Development and Operations, or GSDO, Program office at Kennedy is leading the centers transformation to safely handle a variety of rockets and spacecraft.

GULFPORT, Miss. (Sep. 29, 2022) Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1, conduct a concrete slump test prior to pouring concrete at the Port of Gulfport. The slump test is conducted to measure the consistency and workability of fresh concrete before it sets. NMCB 1 is conducting an intense homeport training plan to expand their ability to execute construction, humanitarian assistance, and theater operations.

A multidisciplinary team of engineers from the Walla Walla District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, performs an inspection of Cougar Dam, operated by the Corps Portland District, June 15 during a regional Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake response exercise. The team was flown by helicopter from Walla Walla to Portland Districts Cougar and Blue River dams, located about 38 miles east of Eugene, Oregon, to inspect the structures as part of the exercise. In the event of a real Cascadia megathrust quake, the Walla Walla-based team would travel to Portland Districts area of operations, if needed, to assist with infrastructure assessments in the aftermath. On July 15, Deputy Commanding General Heitkamp visited the Pittsburgh District to tour the construction work at Charleroi Locks and Dam 4 in Belle Vernon, PA. The construction work is part of the Lower Monongahela River project, which will replace the nearly 100-year-old fixed-crest dam with a gated dam at Braddock Locks and Dam 2, remove Locks and Dam 3 in Elizabeth and construct two larger locks at Charleroi Locks and Dam 4 in Belle Vernon. The Braddock, Elizabeth and Charleroi locks are the three oldest operating-navigation facilities on the Monongahela River and experience the highest commercial-traffic volume in the entire Monongahela River Navigation System.

Construction at Charleroi began in 2004. Over a span of 20 years, the Charleroi project required 17 contracts and 20 designers.Once complete, the Pittsburgh District will begin removing the river dam at Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, to create one continuous navigable pool between Charleroi and Braddock, Pennsylvania.
