Black Constructors to build the fiscal year 2022 Transient Training Brigade Headquarters project at Fort McCoy. Construction operations began in August 2022. Location of construction is just across the street from where the same contractor built two new transient training troop barracks buildings in the same block. According to the Fort McCoy Directorate of Public Works, the brigade headquarters project is based on the denser, more consolidated footprints of Fort McCoys Troop Housing Area Development Plan. The project will include the latest, state-of-the-art systems for fire protection and alarms and video surveillance as well as Energy Monitoring Control Systems. The USACE team welcomed Representative Chris Jacobs of New York's 27th District for a visit at the Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area this week. We gave Rep. Jacobs a personal view of the vital role the dam plays in keeping surrounding communities safe. The dam, which is situated deep in the Genesee River Gorge at the northern end of Letchworth State Park, provides flood protection to downstream areas including the city of Rochester, and offers a variety of recreational opportunities to visitors.
