NEWPORT, R.I. (Sept. 20, 2022) Retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. George Easley, first director of the Senior Enlisted Academy, is interviewed by Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) historians, Sept. 20, 2022. NHHC strives to preserve and present an accurate history by locating, collecting, and preserving documents, artifacts, photos, oral histories, and art that best represent the history of the U.S. Navy.

Among other dignitaries on hand for the commemorative events were Virginia Senators John Warner and George Allen, former U.S. Army Secretary John Marsh, French Ambassador to the U.S. Jean-David Levitte, and French Defense Minister Michelle Alliot-Marie.

Crane Army Ammunition Activity recently welcomed representatives from Indiana Universitys Chemistry Department during a tour of CAAAs demilitarization division. Participants were able to visit Crane Armys demolition range, chemistry lab, white phosphorus plant and a facility where outdated rock-eye bombs are demilitarized. The group was able to discuss the ways in which different types of chemistry work in the demilitarization process. Crane Army values its relationships with other entities such as the IU Chem Department.

The Falls Church, Va., resident attended the 65th anniversary wreath laying ceremony, Feb. 23, 2010, in remembrance of the historic World War II flag-raisings on Mount Suribachi, Japan at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va. The ceremony honored the sacrifices of the Marines and sailors who fought the epic battle and the fallen Marines of all wars, to whom the memorial is dedicated.
