Training operations for Wisconsin National Guards 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment are shown June 9, 2022, at Sparta-Fort McCoy Airport at Fort McCoy, Wis. Members of the unit regularly complete training operations at Fort McCoy, and the unit also supports numerous training events at the installation each year. During June 2022, the unit held its annual training at Fort McCoy and centered their operations with multiple UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters at the airport.

The construction area for a future transient training brigade headquarters in the 1600 block on the cantonment area is shown Sept. 12, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis. A contract, totaling $11,964,432.87, was awarded June 9, 2022, to L.S. Black Constructors to build the fiscal year 2022 Transient Training Brigade Headquarters project at Fort McCoy. Construction operations began in August 2022. Location of construction is just across the street from where the same contractor has been building two new transient training troop barracks buildings in the same block. According to the Army Corps of Engineers, which is managing the project, the brigade headquarters project is based on the denser, more consolidated footprints of Fort McCoys Troop Housing Area Development Plan which states fewer, multiple story buildings allow facilities/functions to be sited closer together, allowing for a more walkable training environment, as well as saving money on utilities. Railcars that were loaded by Soldiers with the Army Reserves 411th Engineer Company with military vehicles and equipment Nov. 2, 2022, are shown at Fort McCoy, Wis. Overall the company loaded 128 items on to railcars over the multi-day rail movement at the installation to deploy the equipment eventually to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Five personnel with the Fort McCoy Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) assisted with the rail movement and its coordination. The 411th is the latest of many units over the last decade to hold rail movements at Fort McCoy. As a matter of fact, for the many decades of Fort McCoys existence, the capability to transport cargo and equipment to and from the installation by rail has always been there. Air Defenders from 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery conducted a culminating Field Training Exercise with both their legacy Avenger and new Maneuver Short Range Air Defense systems at Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany October 17-21, 2022. This FTX provided an opportunity for each platoon to react to mock contact, movement and maneuver techniques. During the exercise Air Defenders also conducted extraction of a stuck vehicle, calling up a 9-line medical evacuation request, evacuating personnel by air, navigation in low visibility conditions, and responding to enemy fire.

The Terrestrial Transmission Line Of Sight radio, known as TRILOS is being tested at Building 5444 on 8th Street on Fort Dix. TRILOS increases the distance/mileage in which units can be a greater distance or location from the larger brigade or battalion for communication with a greater flow of data across a network. Exercise operations are shown Aug. 11, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis., for the Air Force operations in the 2022 Patriot Warrior Exercise. The exercise took place in August 2022 at Fort McCoy at mainly the Sparta-Fort McCoy Airport on South Post at the installation. Hundreds of Airmen participated in the exercise, including Airmen with the 908th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, 433rd Airlift Wing, 934th Airlift Wing, 349th Air Mobility Wing, and 514th Air Mobility Wing. Patriot Warrior is Air Force Reserve Commands premier exercise providing Airmen an opportunity to train with joint and international partners in airlift, aeromedical evacuation, and mobility support.

The soldiers of the 24th CST-WMD come from New York Army National Guard and based out of Fort Hamilton, NY. They are here training on the Fort Dix Range Complex at Range 6a. On this range Qualification Course range is used to train and test soldiers on the skills necessary to detect, identify, engage and defeat stationary targets in a tactical array. All CPQC targets are fully automated and the event specific target scenario is computer driven and scored from the range operations center. The range operating system is fully capable of providing immediate performance feedback to the participants using the CPQC.
