Just Another Passing Motorist -- Post-war saloon KYX 690 pulls out to pass a bus of the Great North Road yesterday. The bus passengers are unconcerned - to them it's just another passing motorist. They might have been more interested had they known that in KYX 690 was the Prime Minister with Mrs. Attlee at the wheel speeding north to address the Scotish Labour Party Conference at North Berwick tomorrow. The 'Roving Eye' -- The new vehicle equipped with a Television Camera, V.H.F. sound and vision transmitters, power unit and gyro-compass controlled aerial. This unit, which is at present in the experimental stage, is interned for use in bringing topical outside events to viewers. Under favourable conditions it can work within a radius of some two miles of a fixed receiving point and the camera can operate when the vehicle is in motion or stationary. If the vehicle is moving the gyro-compass control ensures that the bearing of the transmitting aerial on the van is maintained correct with respect to the fixed base irrespective of vehicle movements.The 'Roving Eye' in Friary Court, St. James's Palace.
