The English in India approximated life back home instead of adopting local ways. This image, probably one of Deen Dayals stock photographs, proved to those back in England that the comforts of home were readily available in India. Treachers, a multistory emporium in Bombay, offered a plethora of products ranging from drugs, wine, and electromedical instruments to silver tea sets and rocking horses. Many goods were imported, but some local craftsmen had mastered traditional European forms for objects including furniture and silver. Treacher and Co.'s Shop in the Fort, Bombay, 1886. The Salon of Baron Gros. Artist: Baron Jean-Baptiste-Louis Gros (French, 1793-1870). Dimensions: Image: 22 x 17.1 cm (8 11/16 x 6 3/4 in.). Date: 1850-57.Gros's exceptional mastery of the technical aspects of the daguerreotype was paired with a refined visual sensibility, seen here in the richness of the setting and the subtle and seductive play of light. Every detail is perfectly calibrated-the ewer carefully silhouetted in the window, the stylish high-back chair positioned invitingly in the glancing sunlight, the daguerreotypes on the easel clearly visible despite their mirrorlike surfaces, and the closed curtains providing a theatrical backdrop. Showcase with doll with clothing in an interior. In Zaal 30, in the basement of the installation of the western courtyard, the installation of the costume department opened in June 1962. The doll carries a wedding juke made of Helena slicer from 1759, which is made of light blue multicolored embroidered silk. The arrangement dates from January 1983.
