"I hope that before they are too close one of them will kick it just a little too hard and five me a chance to whip in, pick it up and get out. Otherwise there is nothing I can do but turn sideways on and throw myself at the ball and the players' feet."Here Bob shows two of the younger fullbacks of the Ponsonby Club for which he also plays how it is done. At Wembley Stadium, the Queen, with the Duke of Edinburgh and FA Secretary Sir Stanley Rous either side of her, presents a Cup-winners medal to Stanley Matthews of Blackpool, following their 4-3 victory over Bolton Wanderers. The final became known as The Matthews final after his superb play that afternoon on the right wing. With Blackpool losing 3-1, Matthews transformed the game, with Perry scoring the winner in the closing seconds following another great run by Matthews. Date: 2 May 19
