From Pots to Putts - And Back Again - For Joe Davis -- Snooker champion Joe Davis in the role as amateur golfer seen driving off during his match at Sudbury today - the final of the Vaudeville golfer Society's Big Bill Campbell cup - in his opponent was Jock McConnell, the famous ice skating comedian.During the close season for snooker, champion Joe Davis has been playing golf and with great success for he has played himself into four finals. He is playing off one of these today at Sudbury another on ***** Sunday at Hendon, before the golf clubs go away for the winter and his snooker cues come out of their temporary retirement. Australian Is London's New Lord Mayor - Sir Leslie and Lady Boyce have a game on the putting green at their home, Bedgrowth Hall, near Cheltenham watched by their two younger sons, Charles (15) on left and John (16) who are attending Cheltenham college. Australian-born Sir Leslie Boyce has been elected London's new Lord Mayor. In 1949 and 1950 Sir Leslie was the senior candidate, but was forced to withdraw on both occasions owing to ill-health. He served with the Australian imperial forces in Gallipoli and went up to Oxford on a Rhodes scholarship.
