1895 advertisement for Narcoti-cure claimed to cure the tobacco habit in 4-10 days. The price was $5.00, or about $150 in 2019. The ad's illustration shows a devil-like tobacco plant being skewered by a knight on horseback. The patent medicine industry and print media who profited from its advertising opposed regulation, which finally came in 1906 with the Pure Food and Drug Act (BSLOC_2019_8_143)
