The Jazz Singer is a 1927 American musical film. The first feature-length motion picture with synchronized dialogue sequences, its release heralded the commercial ascendance of the 'talkies' and the decline of the silent film era. Directed by Alan Crosland, the movie stars Al Jolson, who performs six songs. The film is based on The Day of Atonement, a play by Samson Raphaelson.

Greene.So great was the response to two concerts he organised last year that he has decided to launch a 1947 series.Plan is to give light romantic music to staffs of city offices and stores and to shoppers who cannot attend night concerts because of high prices of seats or come ties.Admission is 2/-, plus tax to all parts of the Town Hall.Two sessions, one from 12.10 pm to 12.50 pm. and the other from 1.10 pm to 1.50, will cater for all workers who want to go.
