Photograph of Fishing Vessel Near Bimini. This image is one of a set of photographs taken of the fishing vessels involved in a shooting incident 12 March near Bimini. These photos were not released as no Coast Guard action was involved and the vessels were Bahamian and Cuban. The photos were shot with a K-20 aerial camera by an air crewman, and not by one of the rated photographers assigned.

French submarine 'Surcouf', 20th century. Launched in 1934, the 'Surcouf' was the largest submarine in the world at the outbreak of World War II. After France's defeat by Germany in 1940, she was captured by the British and transferred to the Free French Navy. The Surcouf was sunk with all hands on 18 February 1942. It was reported that she collided with an American freighter, but a later French investigation stated that she was sunk by US aircraft in a friendly fire incident.

SS ANDREA DORIA - SS STOCKHOLM Collision. The SS ANDREA DORIA, a 656-ft., 29,082-ton luxury liner from Genoa, Italy, lists sharply to starboard as she begins the downward trip into the sea. In the background is the U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender HORNBEAM (WAGL-394), based at Woods Hole, Mass., carrying on board some of the survivors from the stricken sinking ship. This tragic ending of the SS ANDREA DORIA resulted from her collision with the SS Stockholm, a 51-ft., 12,644-ton passenger liner from Stockholm, Sweden, in a fog about 205 miles east of New York, 55 miles south of Nantucket Island, on July 15, 1956.
