I am Barnett (NSW) for films Diver.Former N.S.W. diving champion Jack Barnett, pictured, has decided to turn professional. Barnett announced yesterday he will tour Australia with the Australian Water Follies. The Follies will open its Australian season at Townsville, North Queensland, on August 26. Barnett has been one of the most prominent divers in Australia in recent years. Since 1944 he has won 19 medals in State and Australian division championships. In the last Australian championships in February he was runner-up in the springboard title. August 11, 1949.

Crack US jockey Willie Shoe-maker may ride in Australia this year. MRC secretary J. C. Reilly said today his club would make strenuous efforts to have Shoemaker ride in the next Invitation Stakes at Caulfield in September. Mr. Reilly asked Shoemaker to visit for the last Invitation Stakes but he could not accept. This year an even more attractive proposition will be made to him. Shoemaker in 1953 put up the amazing performance of riding 485 winners in a year. This is a world record. Previous best was 390 by Tony Despirito, also in America. February 27, 1952.
