Lorna, one of the Youngest Players in this year's Championships, easily won her way through to the Second Round by Beating Mrs. B.W. Knott, of Great Britain, in two straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.Americas "Glamour Girls Squad" stole the Publicity show at this year's Wimbledon Tennis Tournament. But England Produced trim, 18-year-old Lorna Cornell. Of Surrey. Lorna didn't need frills - she wore just a Plain white Pique house and Plain shorts. he is British junior women's Champion. Going Places! Sixteen-year-old Juance Perry, of Knowle, Bristol, practises a quick get-away while training at Knowle Cricket Club. Training hard for possible British representation in this year's Olympics is sixteen-year-old Thance Perry, a pupil of Merrywood Grammar School, Bristol and a member of the Bristol and a member of the Bristol Woman's Athletics club, last June, making her first appearance in open competition, Juance confounded the petition, Juance confounded the critics by returning a time of seconds dead for the 50 metres championship. Now training at Knowle Cricket club's ground, Juance says of her Olympic possibilities; "If I get no luck this year, then my ambition is Finland in 1952.". March 06, 1948.

English women golfer Veronica Anstey. Miss Veronica Anstey, a member of the British women's junior golf team touring Australia. She won the recent Victorian championship. Miss Anstey is shown with the putter that helped he win the title. It is a "dead centre" shafted club with a copper coated mild steel head. the club was found among dozens of discarded sticks when the tourists visited Bill Edgar's home in Melbourne.
