Americans on an Outing (Amerikajin yūgyō) 1861 Ippōsai Yoshifuji Japanese This print was created in Yokohama, a port city where foreign ships would become more common after the 1868 Meiji Restoration, which marked the collapse of the military government of the shoguns and the opening to the West. Artists such as Yoshifuji captured the exotic clothing and what, to the Japanese, seemed like the peculiar facial features of Westerners. Accessories. Fans, parasols, opera gloves, fashionable hats, small toques garnished with feathers, wristwatches, compact bracelets, and luxuriously crafted lighters: there was a dazzling variety of accessories in the 1920s. Small bags could be suspended from a belt, or a glove. Walking sticks and the shafts of umbrellas and parasols were often embellished with carving clearly inspired by African and Indian art. And Russian influence was evident when it came to combs made of mother-of-pearl and ivory.

She is wearing a "robe paysanne" with cleavage and short underskirt. He wears a too short and sleek cloak and knee pants. The cracked pitcher must symbolize the virtue of young woman. Gazette du Bon Ton. Art - Modes & Frivolités: Advertising Material. The Gazette du Bon Ton also included advertisements: for shops selling fashions and fabrics, jewellers, hairdressers and beauticians. These ads were also well designed; many were drawn by the same artists who supplied the fashion plates. Even the smallest ads were presented with flair and in a style that was befitting of the whole.

Black shoes with square buckles and red heels. In the background two declared women with identical decorated and high hairstyles. According to fashion, the clothing and hair styles are from the second half of the eighteenth century. The print is probably part of the Almanac La Guirland des Mois (1917-1920) by George Barbier.
