The Three Anchors. How to Plant a Mooring Buoy, in a series of difficult lessons by Coast Guard Buoy Tender, LAUREL. The Coast Guard officers who did the preliminary sounding work have determined that the patent type anchor will hold best on the bottom over which the mooring buoy is to ride. Accordingly, three ten-ton anchors of that type have been put aboard and may be seen on the LAUREL's deck, together with part of the anchor chain. The men are busy with the eight-inch hawser, which will be used both for moving the chain about on deck (with the aid of the powerful boom), and for stoppering the ends of the chain to the ship's side. Note: These scenes of Coast Guard action are laid in a Greenland Fjord.
