The one is for tensioning the strands, the other for the actual rope. Both have a rectangular body on four wheels with a built-in tray. The trolley for tensioning the strands has a framework for five strands: a large gear that drives four small gears in the corners is operated with a steam. The hooks to which the strands are attached are mounted on the axles of the gears and the needlework therefore ensures that the outer four rotate faster than the middle one, which also turns in the other direction.
