Britain's Biggest Land Plane Crashes On Test Flight -- A general view of the crashed Avro Tudor II, which broke its back on its test flight. When Britain's biggest land plane, the Avro TUDOR II crashed at Woodford Airfield, Cheshire yesterday, Mr. Roy Chadwick, one of Britain's greatest air designed and three other men were killed. The plane had Just taken off for a test flight, it rose fifty feet and "crashed like a stone". Mr. Chadwick was the designer of the Lancaster bomber. August 24, 1947.

Unit 731 was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that undertook lethal human experimentation during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) and World War II. It was responsible for some of the most notorious war crimes carried out by Japanese personnel. Unit 731 was the code name of an Imperial Japanese Army unit officially known as the Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department of the Kwantung Army. It was initially set up under the Kempeitai military police of the Empire of Japan to develop weapons of mass destruction for potential use against Chinese, and possibly Soviet forces.

Vietnamese refugees in the United States receive a visit from actress Claudia Cardinale and notable figures such as Nguyen Cao Ky, Rosemary Clooney, and Betty Ford. The photo captures a meeting that took place on May 15, 1975, as part of efforts to support and aid the refugees during the aftermath of the Vietnam War.

Found stored in an underground tunnel 250 miles in length were these Japaneseanese bombs. Tunnel was also used for housing and storing of supplies and food. Rabaul, New Britain, 8 November 1945.
