Greenland Cliffs Dwarf Coast Guard Cutter. Rising abruptly from a bay on the northeast coast of Greenland, rock cliffs tower over a U.S. Coast Guard cutter putting into the picturesque fjord from patrol. This picture is from a Kodachrome by the late Coast Guard Lt. Thomas S. La Farge, who lost his life when the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Natsek went down in the Atlantic.

Georges Cadoudal (1771-1804). French counter-revolutionary politician. Chouan general, commander of the Catholic and Royal Army of Brittany (Armee catholique et royale de Bretagne). Early on the morning of 23 August 1803, the brigantine ""HMS Vincejo"" landed Georges Cadoudal with other Chouans at the foot of the cliffs of Biville. It was a conspiracy to kidnap or assassinate Napoleon Bonaparte on his way to Malmaison. The attempt failed. Ther Troops Move Inland on Okinawa. Surprisingly different from earlier tropical shores, Okinawa is dotted with scrubby fir trees and limestone hills, poked with caves. A Coast Guard combat photographer, moving in from the beachhead, snapped Yankee infantrymen as they approached a hill, their rifles ready to wipe out Jap snipers hiding in the caves and crags. ONly 325 miles from Japan, Okinawa has the vegetation of a temperate climate along its shores. Inland, the going is more rugged.
