The Second Boer War, 1899-1902 A mobile gateway made of barbed wire strung between two wheels probably used as part of the blockhouse policy. The blockhouses were fortified points linked by wire to define the lines held by the British against the guerrillas in the closing stages of the war.

The Parrott rifle was a type of muzzle-loading rifled artillery weapon, invented and used extensively in the American Civil War. It was named for its inventor, Captain Robert Parker Parrott (BSLOC_2018_6_163)

The ***** Scooter-Cafton -- A ***** way of mounting a 75 mm cannon has been round by the French Army. The gun as mounted on a small motor scooter driven by a soldier sitting on a ***** over the barrel. The scooter can travel at about 55 miles an hour using roads too narrow for larger vehicles.
