09/30/1913. The Russian squad in England. The "Tzarevitch", one of the Main Battleships of the Russian squadron, which anchored in the port of Portland. The commander of said ship during the Russo-Japanese War, M. Witholpt, was killed on one of the Towers by an Enemy Grenade, which is preserved on the ship as a sad relic.

Soon after the outbreak of World War One, the Cressy and two of her sisterships, the Aboukir and the Hogue were torpedoed and sunk on the same day, 22 September 1914, by the German submarine U-9 Date: 1914

Sea Veteran Is Training Flagship -- H.M.S. Nelson ("Nellie to the Royal Navy) at anchor in Torbay, Devon.The 34,000-ton H.M.S. Nelson, now retired from battle service, is the flagship of the Training Battleship Squadron, commanded by Rear Admiral H. Hickling, D.S.O., Rear-Admiral, Training Battleships, Home Fleet. Launched in 1925 and completed at a cost of £7,500,000, the Nelson had has a distinguished career. She took park in the invasions of Sicily and Italy, and her guns sent 9 tons of high explosive per second into the Normandy defences on D-day. Two surrenders were made aboard her during World War II. September 19, 1946.

The Royal Navy during the Second World War Marines man 'island forts' to protect Britains east coast shipping in the north sea from low flying enemy aircraft. These forts are commissioned as HM ships and are called after the sands on which they stand. Each consists of two concrete towers, 50 feet high from the base, connected by a steel superstructure on which the anti-aircraft guns and equipment are mounted. Fixed to the bas is a landing stage, consisting of steel joists. The mess-decks are in the towers, with a store room and magazines below. All the armament is manned by Royal Marines under RNVR officers, with naval ratings for technical duties. Mail and supplies are regularly delivered to the forts.
