Students in the My Brothers Keeper program get an inside look at NASA Kennedy Space Centers iconic Vehicle Assembly Building from the transfer aisle. The Florida spaceport is one of six NASA centers that participated in My Brothers Keeper National Lab Week. The event is a nationwide effort to bring youth from underrepresented communities into federal labs and centers for hands-on activities, tours and inspirational speakers. Sixty students from the nearby cities of Orlando and Sanford visited Kennedy, where they toured the Vehicle Assembly Building, the Space Station Processing Facility and the centers innovative Swamp Works Labs. The students also had a chance to meet and ask questions of a panel of subject matter experts from across Kennedy.

Visit of figure skating star Michelle Kwan to State, where she joined Secretary Condoleezza Rice and Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Hughes in the Treaty Room for the announcement of Kwan's appointment as the first American Public Diplomacy Envoy. In the role, Kwan, a five time World Champion and two time Olympic medalist, will reach out to international young people by visiting their schools and clubs to speak about leadership and to engage them in dialogue on social and educational issues.

COCOA BEACH, Fla. -- NASA Kennedy Space Center Director Bob Cabana encourages fourth- through 12-grade students and their teachers from across the nation to "dream big" during the NASA Explorer Schools Symposium in Florida. During the event, May 4-7, about 60 students will tour Kennedy, the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, and participate in several educational activities and a career panel question-and-answer session. The symposium also offers professional development opportunities for about 30 teachers.The participants were competitively selected after they completed an original investigation focused on existing NASA missions or research interests.
