Tile Inlay from the Palace of Ramesses II, Torso of a Mesopotamian or Syrian Captive ca. 1279-1213 B.C. New Kingdom, Ramesside This tile once decorated the palace of Ramesses II in Piramesse, which he made into one of the greatest royal cities of ancient Egypt. Thanks to the royal favor and its strategic location, Piramesse soon became an important international trade center and a cosmopolitan metropolis, boasting a harbor, a military base, and temples dedicated to various gods like Amun-Re-Harakhty-Atum, Seth, Astarte, etc. Poems were written in the city's praise, and its name, which translates as "The House of Ramesses, Beloved of Amun, Great of Victories" when fully written, came to us through the Old Testament as Raamses.’ The tiles bear the names of Seti I, Ramesses II and later Ramesside kings, who renovated the palace and changed its decoration through the reigns. New tiles were made, and the old tiles may be have been dismantled and buried together. Based on the tiles, we can

A photograph taken within Tomb KV1, located in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, used for the burial of Pharaoh Ramesses VII of the Twentieth Dynasty. Although it has been open since antiquity, it was only adequately investigated and cleared by Edwin Brock in 1984 and 1985. The single corridor tomb itself is located in Luxor's West Bank and is small in comparison to other tombs of the twentieth dynasty. Usermaatre Setepenre Meryamun Ramesses VII (also written Ramesses and Ramesses) was the sixth pharaoh of the twentieth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. He reigned from about 1136 to 1129 BC and was the son of Ramesses VI. The decoration within the passageway of the tomb contains illustrations from the Book of Gates, the Book of Caverns as well as the Book of the Earth. The walls of the burial chamber are decorated with extracts from the Book of the Earth.

Fragmentary Head of a King ca. 1400-1390 B.C. New Kingdom For many years the Fragments of this face were dispersed in various collections, but in 1993 it became possible to reunite the pieces through an exchange with the Petrie Museum, London (the cheek, 1993.27a, b), and a long-term loan from the Musée du Louvre, Paris (the eye, L.1993.21a, b). Part of a red jasper thumb in the collection (26.7.1398b) probably belonged to the same statue. The original statue was probably what we call a "composite statue" in which the face and other areas of exposed flesh (the hands and feet) were carved from jasper and rest of the statue was carved from Egyptian alabaster, limestone, or wood. Although such statues most frequently come from the the reign of Akhenaten Amarna period (ca. 1353-1336 B.C.), this work has been dated to the reign of Akhenaten's grandfather, Thutmose IV, on stylistic grounds.. Fragmentary Head of a King. ca. 1400-1390 B.C.. Jasper. New Kingdom. From Egypt, Upper Egypt, Thebes.
