Amun. Dimensions: H. 15.7 cm (6 3/16 in.); W. 3.3 cm (1 5/16 in.); D. 5.2 cm (2 1/16 in.). Date: 664-30 B.C..Amun was one of Egypt's most celebrated deities, worshipped as a universal, cosmic god and frequently called the king of the gods. In copper alloy he is almost invariably shown, as here, in anthropomorphic form wearing a short kilt and a tall double feather crown with a sun disc, which alludes to his solar and cosmic aspects, including his conflation with the sun god Re. Further elaborations on this statuette include a broad collar and arm bands. His right hand is socketed for the attachment of an attribute. Amun gained tremendous popularity in the New Kingdom when he became a kind of national god, and this continued into later periods. His cult originated in Thebes and his temple at Karnak remains one of the most stunning achievements of Egyptian cult and architecture, but he was worshipped in temples and shrines throughout Egypt. Osiris 664-30 B.C. Late Period-Ptolemaic Period Osiris, foremost of the Egyptian funerary gods and ruler of the underworld, stands upright in a close-fitting mummiform garment. The garment hugs the contours of his arms and shoulders. He holds the royal crook and flail with his arms crossed on his chest. Copper alloy statuettes of Osiris generally exhibit one of three arm positions: asymmetrical with the right fist over the left, symmetrical with the fists touching, and arms crossed. The latter position, seen here, is the least common of the three but still frequently utilized. Why these arm positions are so consistently represented and how they relate to workshop practices, chronological changes, or conceptions of cult is unknown.The detailing of Osiris attributes is fine and beautifully executed, including the broad collar, a streamer at the back of his neck that overlaps the broad collar, the chin strap holding the false beard in place, and the designs of the crook and flail. Osiris-Iah 664-332 B.C. Late Period Osiris-Iah is a form of Osiris specifically linked to the moon, a feature made explicit in this figure through the crown, which represents the moon disk resting on the crescent moon, thereby encompassing the moon in all of its phases. The statuette conforms to the standard iconography for this deity in which he is shown with the moon crown, seated and wearing an enveloping garment, and holding the crook and flail. This figure is further elaborated with bracelets, visible where the cloak opens on the chest. Osiris-Iah can also be shown striding and wearing a short kilt, such as on 04.2.452. Worker Shabti of Nauny ca. 1050 B.C. Third Intermediate Period Seven shabti boxes were interred with Nauny; five came to New York in the division of finds (30.3.26-.30), two of them are now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. All are made of sycamore wood and have high ends and flat lids. A white stucco wash was applied after the lids were closed. The shabtis, made of faience, were packed tightly in each box, in an upright position. They are of two types: foremen and workmen, with a ratio of one forman to ten workers (see 30.3.28a-h).. Date: 664-30 B.C..The figure represents a child god in a striding/standing position, wearing the double crown, which alludes to his royal status. The child god is distinguished from adult gods by a range of iconographic clues: his nudity, the finger raised to the mouth (a child-like gesture), and the sidelock on the right side of his head. He wears an amulet on his chest, another attribute common to child gods but not adult gods. Crossed lines at the back of the neck show where the suspension cord ties.Child gods grew in popularity and cult from the Third Intermediate Period onwards, rivaling even the most powerful and ancient gods, especially as temple offerings. Sacred boat of Queen Mutemwia. 18th Dynasty, about 1400 BC, from Thebes, Temple of Karnak. This sculpture of a ceremonial boat carried a statue of Queen Mutemwia. Mutemwia means 'the Goddess Mut in the (sacred) boat. The back of the statue is carved with vulture wings. Mut is shown as a vulture.

Funerary figurine of Queen Neferu ca. 2051-2030 B.C. Middle Kingdom Several miniature coffins were found in the tomb of queen Neferu. They were inscribed with funerary formulas and the name of the deceased like actual coffins. Each of the miniature coffins contained a wax or mud figurine of a nude woman wrapped in linen and identified as Neferu herself by a short inscription. Such figures are known from other tombs of Dynasty 8 and 11. Funerary figurines of this type are probably the forerunners of the so called shabtis, which evolved in Dynasty 12 and became very popular from the New Kingdom on.This figurine was found inside the miniature coffin 25.3.244b, c.
