It forms part of the Theban Necropolis, situated on the west bank of the Nile opposite Luxor. A photograph taken of the Red Chapel of Hatshepsut (the Chapelle Rouge) constructed initially as a barque shrine during the reign of Hatshepsut, the fifth pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt and ruled from approximately 1479 to 1458 BC. Although it had been demolished and parts were reused in antiquity, following rediscovery, the chapel has been reconstructed using its original materials. Its original location is thought to have been in the central court of the temple of Amun at Karnak, near Thebes.

Weighing of the Heart from Papyrus of Ani. For the ancient Egyptians, the Book of the Dead tells of the path the dead must go to the underworld. This image is a part of the book that belonged to the scribe Ani. The Papyrus Ani, as the papyrus is called today, dates to about 1275-1250 B.C., the time of the 19th Dynasty during the New Kingdom. At left is scribe Ani, who appears here, dressed in white, with his wife, who is also dressed in white and she holds a sistrum. The two are shown bowing as they are in the presence of the gods who will judge them. The three figures at top are part of the jury who will judge their actions. Next, the jackal-headed god of the dead, Anubis, is weighing the heart of the deceased, that is - Ani's, against the feather of truth to decide Ani's fate. In later Egyptian mythology, Ra-Horakhty was more of a title or manifestation than a composite deity. It may be translated as 'Ra (who is) Horus of the Horizons'. Ra-Horakhty was intended to link Horakhty (as a sunrise-oriented aspect of Horus) to Ra. It has been suggested that Ra-Horakhty simply refers to the sun's journey from horizon to horizon as Ra, or that it means to show Ra as a symbolic deity of hope and rebirth.

A photograph taken of Tomb WV23, in the Valley of the Kings, was the final resting place of Pharaoh Ay of the 18th Dynasty. Discovered by Giovanni Battista Belzoni in the winter of 1816, its structure is similar to that of the tomb of Akhenaten, with a straight undecorated, descending corridor, leading to a "well chamber" that has no shaft. The passage leads to the burial chamber, which currently contains the reconstructed sarcophagus. Ay was the penultimate Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt's 18th dynasty. He held the throne of Egypt for a brief four-year period (probably 1323-1319 BC or 1327-1323 BC

A feast for Nebamun. An entire wall of the tomb-chapel showed a feast in honour of Nebamun. Naked serving girls and servants wait on his friends and relatives. Married guests sit in pairs on fine chars, while the young women turn and talk to each other. This erotic scene of relaxation and wealth is something for Nebamun to enjoy for all eternity.
