Kiyevskaya is a station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line of the Moscow Metro. Opened in 1953, it is lavishly decorated in the quasi-baroque style that predominated in the early 1950s. The square pylons are faced with white Ural marble and elaborately patterned ceramic tile and the plastered ceiling is decorated with a series of frescoes by various artists depicting life in Ukraine. A large mosaic at the end of the platform commemorates the 300th anniversary of the reunification of Russia and Ukraine. The architects were L. V. Lile, V. A. Litvinov, M. F. Markovsky, and V. M. Dobrokovsky.

On the day the city fell, 20,000 Nicosians were put to death, and churches, public buildings, and palaces were looted.

They were not only purchased by the Crown and members of the aristocracy but also given by the king as diplomatic gifts to foreign courts and visiting dignitaries, and the esteem in which they were held did much to enhance the factorys prestige and fortunes. Because the number of pieces composing a service was very large, the cost was enormous, but this did not deter many courtiers from ordering a dinner or dessert service, or both.One of the most celebrated services produced at Sèvres was delivered to Louis-René-Édouard, prince de Rohan-Guémenée (1734-1803), on September 7, 1772. All of the pieces were decorated with the rich turquoise ground color known as bleu céleste and with birds encircled by an elaborate gilt wreath of oak leaves and acorns. Maker: Tiffany Studios (1902-32). Date: ca. 1905-15.Tiffany's work in mosaic, inspired by Byzantine examples he had seen abroad, dates to the 1880s, when he began experimenting with iridescent glass and transparent tesserae backed with metal leaf. Mosaic decoration graced countless interiors by him, from churches to department stores. The culmination of his interest was the vast Dream Garden mosaic, created in 1915, after designs by Maxfield Parrish, for Edward Bok at the Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia. Tiffany may have made this shimmering garden landscape as a preliminary study for the Curtis commission.
