The overall program was developed by Maximilian I and Johannes Stabius in 1512 and recorded by Marx Treitz-Sauerwein; the manuscripts with this text survive at the Nationbibliothek in Vienna. The illustrations, designed between 1516 and 1518, were largely the work of Hans Burgkmair, with contributions by Albrecht Altdorfer, Hans Springinklee, Albrecht Dürer, Leonhard Beck, and Hans Schäufelen. Uniformed members of the (Directoire), Directory, or Directorate, a five-member committee which governed France from 1795, when it replaced the Committee of Public Safety. On 9 November 1799, it was overthrown by Napoleon Bonaparte in the Coup of 18 Brumaire and replaced by the French Consulate. It gave its name to the final four years of the French Revolution.
