December 27, 1916, 8:52 am, the French armour Gauls torpedo a day's drive from Thessaloniki, is evacuated by the crew a few moments before capsizing. The trawler patrol Rochebonne, rushed to the scene of the accident, and the destroyer Dard, who escort the Gauls, gather men and state staff.

This vessel,the Sovietski Suyoz, equipped with orthodox main battery of six 16-inch guns, is said to have two catapult towers for firing radio-controlled aerial torpedoes. Sister-Ship of Missing Submarine -- The United States submarine 0-9 has been missing since she submerged in a routine dive at 10:36 a.m. (EDT) off the Isles of Shoals, near where the submarine squalls sank two years ago, it was announced at ports-mouth navy yard this afternoon. Yard officials said the missing submarine carried two officers and thirty-one men. Battle ship HMS Goliath, smaller sister ship of 'Ocean' was torpedoed by a Turkish torpedo boat destroyer, in the Dardanelles during the land-and-sea attack on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Two torpedoes which struck Goliath almost simultaneously causing a massive explosion almost immediately capsizing, then another torpedoe hit making the Goliath sink, killing 570 out of 700 crew. The "Altmark" In The Norwegian Fjord - The "Altmark" aground in the Josing Fjord, Southern Norway. It is reported from Oslo that the Nazi prison-ship "Altmark" from which 299 British prisoners were rescued by the action of H.M.S. Cossack, has been refloated in Josing Fjord, where it had run aground. The Norwegian Court of Marine Inquiry are holding a secret inquiry into the case. February 24, 1940.

Captain Wilmott's Body Comes Ashore - A few charred bones, all that remained of Captain Robert R. Willmott of the fire-swept Morro Castle, as they came ashore from the beached and smouldering hulk in a breeches buoy, encased in a small black box, at Asbury Park, N.J., Sept. 12. The charred bones could not be identified but it was felt certain they were those of Willmott since they were discovered in the master's stateroom, just aft the bridge. October 30, 1934. Rescue crews as they worked on the upturned hull of the 29,000-ton battleship, U.S.S. Oklahoma, which capsized in Pearl Harbor after being attacked by Jap planes during the sneak raid, last December 7th. Holes were burned through the hull to permit the rescue of some of the men trapped below. Note one of the Oklahoma's launches in the foreground. In background, is the battleship, U.S.S. Maryland, this photo has just been released by the navy department in Washington. February 4, 1943.

WW1 - HMHS Anglia was a British steam ship requisitioned for use as a hospital ship during the First World War. On 17th November 1915, Anglia was returning from Calais to Dover, carrying 390 injured officers and soldiers. At around 12:30 pm, one mile (1.6 km) east of Folkestone Gate, she hit a mine laid by the German U-boat, UC-5. Despite the assistance of the nearby collier 'Lusitania', 134 people were killed in the sinking. Date: 1915
