For Australian Hero Of Bremen Radio -- Acting Wing Commander Edwards.Acting Wing Commander Hughie Edwards D.F.C., Has been awarded the Victoria Cross For Bravery and determination displayed when raiding Bremen. R.A.F. Man Sentenced on Secrets Charge -- Gerald Stuffins in French Air Force uniform. The photograph was taken when Stuffins was appearing in an R.A.F. Amateur Dramatic show.An R.A.F. General court martial sat in camera at West Drayton (Middlesex) to-day to hear five secrets act charges against a 19-year-old Aircraftman. It was announced that the proceedings would be held in camera, "In the interests of national safty." Group Captain K.B.B. Cross, D.S.O., D.F.C., has been awarded the Norwegian War Cross by King Haakon. Group Captain Cross, who now commands a day and night fighter wing in the defence of Egypt, led a fighter squadron in Norway. This Squadron was in action when Narvik was captured, and his aircraft, which covered the withdrawal of the Allied forces, were the last to leave. They flew to the aircraft-carrier "Glorious" which was sunk on the way home. Group Captain cross is the first pilot to fly a Hurricane fighter off the deck of an aircraft-carrier. A keen Rugby footballer, Group Captain Cross captained the R.A.F. fifteen in 1938. October 06, 1942.

Triple ace Brig. Gen. David Lee 'Tex' Hill served as leader of the American Volunteer Groups 2nd Squadron and commanded the Army Air Corps 75th Fighter Squadron and the 23rd Fighter Group. He was also the Texas Air National Guards first commander.

Royal Air Force Operations in the Middle East and North Africa, 1939-1943. A successful night fighter crew, Sergeant S V McAllister (radar operator, left) and Sergeant A J 'Ginger' Owen (pilot, right), of No. 600 Squadron RAF, at Setif, Algeria. They claimed the Squadron's first victory in North Africa on 21/22 December 1942 and are seen here after their third success, for which they were both awarded the DFM. By the time they left the Mediterranean theatre in November 1943, Owen and McAllister had raised their total to six. Following periods as instructors in the United Kingdom, the pair were reunited in August 1944 when they were both posted to No. 85 Squadron RAF, and enjoyed further success over North-west Europe on bomber support duties. By the end of 1944 they had achieved 15 confirmed victories.

Royal Air Force Operations in the Middle East and North Africa, 1939-1943. Wing Commander J K Buchanan, shortly after his appointment as Officer Commanding, No. 14 Squadron RAF. From the outbreak of the Second World War, Buchanan flew Vickers Wellingtons with No. 37 Squadron RAF, participating in many of the early bomber operations from the United Kingdom. He was posted to No. 14 Squadron in the Sudan in late 1940, and saw action with them in Eritrea, Egypt and Iraq. After leading the Squadron during Operation CRUSADER in Libya, he was rested before moving to Malta to take command of No. 272 Squadron RAF.

. 11 Battalion (attached 8 Battalion), Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) Lt Tindal was reported wounded and missing, aged 19, at Delville Wood on 18 July 1916 during the Battle of the Somme.
