Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

The Royal Air Force in Britain during the Second World War Pilot Officer C W 'Red' McColpin of No 71 (Eagle) Squadron RAF, standing by his Supermarine Spitfire Mark VB at North Weald, Essex. He later became a flight commander with No. 133 (Eagle) Squadron RAF and, by the time of his transfer to the USAAF in September 1942, had shot down 9 enemy aircraft. In 1944 he returned to the United Kingdom as commander of a fighter group of the 9th USAAF. After the war, he commanded the 31st Fighter Group USAAF.

Van Vloten was a circle leader of Het Gooi, bank director and from 1 April 1941 mayor of Delft. Gets 25th Jap Plane . . . Major Gregory Boyington, of Okanogan, Wash. Commanding Officer of a Marine fighter squadron, "Boyington's Black Sheep", shot down his 25th Jap plane on Dec. 27, over Rabaul. Only one other American tops this record, another Marine, Major Joseph Foss who is credited with downing 26 Jap planes. Major Boyington, who got his first six victims as a member of the "Flying Tigers", returned to Marine aviation in July, 1942. Reinhard Heydrich (1904 - 1942) high-ranking German SS and police official during the Nazi era and a principal architect of the Holocaust. He was chief of the Reich Security Main Office. Chaired the January 1942 Wannsee Conference which formalised plans for the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question" the deportation and genocide of all Jews in German-occupied Europe.
