The plan of the bowl resembles a quatrefoil. Below is a round base and a short shaft, with a festoon supported by two cherubim. The lid has, below, moldings and two pediment volutes at the front upon which two angels sit embracing each other, the left one holding in his right hand flower stems. Campana, bell-shaped vase, with erotic scenes. One scene shows a phallic Bacchanalia, with a seated silenus worshipped by a bald man, and attended by a Bacchus wearing a chlamys and casque helmet. The other shows a Bacchic game with a woman picking up a sphaera (ball) surprised by a man with an erection. Handcoloured lithograph by A. This rare volume is a catalog of the collection of erotic paintings, bronzes and statues excavated in Pompeii and Herculaneum and stored in a Secret Cabinet at Naples.
