This box is very classic in the organization and the patterns of its translucent enamel decor on a background guilloche with parallel waves, a base divided into four panels, chopped gold moldings with small leaves and half-lights. The translucent enamels give it this radiance which competes with that of the precious stones. The miniature appearing on the cover of this box takes up a composition of François Boucher, they think of this sheep or the rest, exhibited by the artist in the living room of 1765 . It was engraved by Mrs. Jourdan (a test at the Louvre museum, Department of Graphic Arts, Edmond Collection de Rothschild, inv. 5973 L.R.) and Jacques Bonnefoy (a test at the Louvre museum, Department of graphic arts, Edmond de Rothschild collection , inv. 18316 L.R.). Traveling extensively throughout Great Russia, she collected many fine examples of textile art of the wealthy peasant class. From the 1870s until moving to France in 1902, Shabelsky amassed a large collection of intricately embroidered hand-woven household textiles and opulent festival garments with rich decoration and elaborate motifs. The Brooklyn Museum holdings include many fine examples including the majority of the garments. Portions of Shabelsky's collection are also housed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Cleveland Art Museum, and the Russian Museum of Ethnography in St. Petersburg..
