This was the stirring climax of the super mile at London's white city in which three men - Hungary's Laszlo Tabori and Britain's Chris Chataway and Brian Hewson finished the course inside the coveted four minutes. Tabori is racing home and ahead of Chataway (left) and Hewson. Tabori took 3m. 59s. and Chataway, four yards behind at the finish, and Hewson finished in 3m. 59.8s. May 31, 1955. Cunningham Sets World Mark In '1500' -- Glenn Cunningham of Kansas set a world record for the 1500-meter run with a timing of 3:48.4 in the annual National A.A.U. Indoor Championships at Madison Square Garden Feb. 25. Cunningham clipped one and five-tenths of a second from the indoor world mark, and came within six-tenths of a second of the outdoor Mark.
