Collection of old albums featuring prints, sketches, and designs, along with a textile sample, showcasing historical artistry and craftsmanship.

Prentalbum with mainly Christian performances, Unknown, c. 1670 - c. 1699 Seventeenth-century Prentalbum with 8 series with a total of 62 prints, bound in a parchment band with gold stamp (recto: medallion with IHS and Crucifix); Verso medallion with madonna with child) and brass closures. The album has a total of 70 sheets, of which 62 prints, 1 handwritten index and 7 blank magazines. The album is still completely intact, including a handwritten index, and contains the following series of Dutch and French print makers, published by Dutch and French publishers: Engelen (12); Seven theological and cardinal virtues (8); Martyrdom of the apostles (12); Actions of the apostles (12); History of Tobias and the Engel (4); History of the Lost Son (4); History of Jacob and Esau (4); The history of Joseph and the Melkmeid (6). band: parchment (animal material). sluiting: brass (alloy). paper engraving

A Manuscript of Five Sections of a Qur'an 18th century Two lavishly illuminated double pages open and close this juz' (section) from a Qur'an, which was bound in finely worked leather. The intricate geometric and vegetal decoration of this illumination is conservative and the calligraphy employed here represents a type of script that was almost unchanged in North Africa since the twelfth century, but the rectangular format, the use of paper, and the varied color palette of the illumination are characteristic of the manuscripts late date.. 1720 set of cylindrical Napier's bones, a manually-operated calculating device created by John Napier of Merchiston for calculation of products and quotients of numbers. The method was based on Arab mathematics and the lattice multiplication used by Matrakci Nasuh in the Umdet-ul Hisab and Fibonacci's work in his Liber Abaci. Using the multiplication tables embedded in the rods, multiplication can be reduced to addition operations and division to subtractions. More advanced use of the rods can even extract square roots. Note that Napier's bones are not the same as logarithms, with which Napier's name is also associated.
