Turned silk cord with brush and ring to wear fan while dancing to one of the fingers. Brush with core of wood where silk thread around is tense and ending in a forest twisted silk threads. The eight sectors of the Parasoldek are bordered by a symmetrical rocaille list and are filled with a bouquet of carnations, interspersed by a bouquet of roses. On the ribs there are small reserves with grid filling as junctions of spit arches in the sector. The frame rounds down and has a final piece in leaf shape in the middle. A second shell is added, filled with roses and forget-me-not. These scoops are connected by smaller. The lining and a pleated strip are from white crepe Georgette. A white wooden stick has a conical gold button as a handle, completely smooth and rounded, in which four rows of increasing pearls and diamonds are caught. The latter are cut like a glasses to a high stone with a small table. The tip shows the same, but reduced form. Generations of this family played important roles in American political affairs, and the original owner's husband was a general in the Civil War and an Ambassador to Portugal from 1890-1892. The parasol itself is exceptional. The exquisitely carved ivory handle makes reference to the shell forms of the Rococo and the idealized mythological Greek female form.
