Coast Guard Admiral Receives Medal for Heroism. Vice Admiral R.R. Waesche (right), Coast Guard Commandant, congratulates Rear Admiral Philip B. Eaton, assistant Engineer-in-Chief at Coast Guard Headquarters, on receipt of the Navy and Marine Corps medal for "heroic conduct" after the wreck of three trains on the Baltimore and Ohio Railway near Dickerson, Md., Sept. 24, 1942. According to the citation, presented in the name of the President, Admiral Eaton risked his life in crawling beneath wreckage of the train to carry to safety a number of persons in danger of burning to death.
