It differed vastly from her war time operations for on board was a ***** of eminent scientists who carried out, on behalf of the Royal society gravity observations in mid-Atlantic. The ***** took four weeks and covered 3,800 miles. Two main objects of the voyage were to make a gravity survey of the continental shelf ***** West of the British Islands, and the mesurements takes **** by the motion of the submarine to the measurements taken called but the motion of the submarine. Limburg (D814) was part of the NATO Squadron Matchmaker III from January 15 to March 3, 1967 (Matchmaker was the precursor of the Standing Naval Force Atlantic (StanavForlant) that has existed from 1968). During that period, Matchmaker III also consisted of USS Zellars (DD777), HMS Berwick (F115) and USS McCloy (DE1038). The Netherlands led the command about Matchmaker III from 15 January to 20 August 1967. Commander of the Matchmaker III Squadron (Commatchron) was Captain at sea F. Visee. Commander of the flagship HR. Ms. Limburg was Captain-Lieutenant at sea J. Jansen.

First, the former first vice president and Minister of the Interior, Mr. José García Hernández, said some farewell words on behalf of the Outgoing Cabinet. The new Vice President for Defense Affairs and Minister without Portfolio, Lieutenant General Don Fernando de Santiago y Díaz de Mendívil, spoke later. The event closed with a speech by the President, Mr. Carlos Arias from Navarre.

Former Waffen S.S. General is Released from Prison - Greeting his son at Central Station here after his release from Landsberg Prison is former General of the Waffen S.S. and Concentration Camp Administrator in Germany Oswald Pohl (left). Pohl was imprisoned for five years for crimes against humanity. Tried at Nuremburg, he was first sentenced to death, but this was later commuted to five years imprisonment. Good conduct earned him a remission. Pohl's wife died while he was serving his prison sentence. December 27, 1949.
