Nothing is spared to make invasion casualties comfortable and to speed their recovery on these Coast Guard ships.

Kent No 2 Vad Nether Court Hospital Dr T G Styan and nurses dressing a wounded patient. The patient was a Canadian soldier very severely wounded in the thigh. A metal plate, 8 inches long, was inserted and rivetted to the bone. A good result was obtained after 12 months treatment.

She's A Barber - Carol Bishop, 23, has been working in her father's hairdressing saloon for the past 10 years. Two months after she started work war broke out and her father joined the army. Carol carried on her father's business all through the war and also acted as mens' barber in her spare time at the American Red Cross Club, Falmouth. Barbaring has been in the Bishop family for at least the past two generations. So perhaps it is only natural that Carol should be interested. In the "Borough Hairdressers" at Penryn, Carol's father said "She is not slow. I timed her the other day, and she's averaging five minutes each hair cut." January 05, 1950.

Aboard a Coast Guard manned LST (Landing Ships, Tanks) at Cape Gloucester, New Britain, a blood plasma transfusion is given a Marine wounded in the invasion. The officers' ward-room of the ship, one of the Coast Guard manned LSTs participating in the invasion, was converted into an emergency hospital.

The clothes have a label on them with the words 'America to Britain'. This lady lost everything she owned in an air raid, so these clothes will be very useful.
