Tug-of-War teams from the Central and Northeastern Departments at Jefferson Barracks, MO, engage in a match during an athletic event. The Northeastern Department emerges as the victor. This photograph was taken by the Signal Corps in 1920 and is assigned the symbol A. It has the identification number 69005.

A Coast Guardsman catches a fast pitch on the fat of his bat during a baseball game between two teams representing Coast Guard-manned ships in port somewhere in the Philippines. Each team, of course, brought its own cheering section with it in the form of the liberty party. Sports activities rate high among Coast Guardsmen when their ships hit port. Note the basketball backboard in center rear on this athletic field built for our servicemen.
