Virgin and Child Workshop or Circle of Hans Traut German This painting testifies to the widespread influence of early Netherlandish masters on German artists of the last half of the fifteenth century. Although the exact prototype for this Virgin and Child is unknown, the composition and figure style can be generally associated with models by Dieric Bouts that were widely circulated through drawings. Technical examination revealed that the underdrawing of the figures was transferred onto the panel from a preexisting pattern. The landscape, however, was painted freehand and bears a close resemblance to a German watercolor drawing (Universitätsbibliothek Erlangen), supporting the attribution to the workshop or circle of Hans Traut.. Madonna and Child with Saints and Donors. Artist: Attributed to Sebastiano del Piombo (Italian, Venice () 1485/86-1547 Rome). Dimensions: Overall 26 1/2 x 40 1/2 in. (67.3 x 102.9 cm); painted surface 26 x 39 3/4 in. (66 x 101 cm).This fine painting, with its rich colors and the soft, tonal modeling of the flesh tones, was most likely painted by the young Sebastiano del Piombo. A contemporary of Titian and almost his equal in talent, Sebastiano was an important presence in Venice before his departure for Rome in 1510. If this painting is by him it must be one of his earliest, as the composition is slightly awkward, and although many details are close to those of his later, certain works, it lacks their sophistication. Reni commanded the highest prices and greatest admiration among his contemporaries for such idealized faces and jewel-like tones. The Lamentation. Artist: Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri) (Italian, Bologna 1581-1641 Naples). Dimensions: 20 7/8 x 14 3/4 in. (53 x 37.5 cm). Date: 1603.This beautifully preserved picture was painted by Domenichino a year after he moved from his native Bologna to Rome. The composition repeats that of a large altarpiece designed by Annibale Carracci for the church of San Francesco a Ripa, Rome (now in the Louvre, Paris) and this explains why, in the past, the picture was ascribed to Annibale rather than to Domenichino. Annibale greatly admired the talent of his young assistant, who in this picture outstripped his master in creating a mood of restrained but poignant grief. Catherine of Alexandria c. 1507. Oil painting on wood, by the Italian High Renaissance artist (Raphael), Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (1483-1520). The depiction of religious passion in the painting is still reminiscent of Pietro Perugino. But the graceful contrapposto of Catherine's pose is typical of the influence of Leonardo da Vinci on Raphael, and is believed to be an echo of Leonardo's lost painting Leda and the Swan.

Date: ca. 1360-65.Lorenzo Veneziano, the preeminent Venetian painter of the second half of the fourteenth century, may have trained in the workshop of Paolo Veneziano, a celebrated artist rooted in the Byzantine tradition, to which Venice and its art were so closely tied. Lorenzo was receptive to the influences of other artistic centers where he was active, such as Padua, Verona, and Bologna. The Virgin's architectonic throne was likely inspired by the Paduan painter Guariento. The detailing of the throne, the Virgin's brocaded garments, and the ermine lining of the Christ's Child's tunic evoke the emphasis on ornamentation and surface pattern characteristic of Venetian painting of this period.
