Norfolk (September 21, 2022) Chief Petty Officer selectees from various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region, listen as Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Duane R. Bushey, USN (Ret.) shares some of his experiences in the wardroom aboard the decommissioned Iowa Class Battleship USS Wisconsin (BB-64). MCPON Bushey served as the seventh MCPON from 1988-1992. The presentation was part of the Hampton Roads Naval Museums 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days event. The three-day event allows CPO selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, and is hosted by the museum and area commands. The Deputy Commanding Officer of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), Col. Inter-American Defense College held its World Situation Conference on Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 8-10, 2023. During their conference Participants engaged in a strategic-level analysis organized by Brazilian Army and professor Col. Fábio Araújo. The conference offered students a global and sub-regional understanding of geo-politics, enabling them to analyze various aspects such as politics, socio-cultural factors, economics, defense, security, science, technology, key nations, state actors, regional alliances, and governmental or international non-governmental organizations. The focus of Committee I involves an in-depth examination of national and sub-regional security, defense, and development policies, along with strategic trends that will influence the Western Hemisphere in the next 10 years.

NAVAL BASE GUAM (May 27, 2022) )- U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) activated an Emergency Family Assistance Center (EFAC) at the Charles King Fitness Center on NBG as part of the annual heavy weather exercise May 27. The annual exercise, held May 23 - 27, is designed to enhance readiness of military and local agencies to prepare for heavy weather conditions in the region. Commanding officers and participating agencies trained in command, control and communications capabilities, readiness preparation, and personnel in areas of accountability, disaster preparedness and recovery. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command directs and oversees more than 2,500 globally-distributed military and civilian personnel who collect, process and exploit environmental information to assist Fleet and Joint Commanders in all warfare areas to make better decisions faster than the adversary.
